firecracker popcorn recipe

1. Firecracker Popcorn!

Be careful, this stuff is addicting...and SO easy to make! Here's what you need:

Ingredients
1 bag Pop Secret Homestyle microwave popcorn

1 cup white candy melts

1 package Strawberry Pop Rocks candy

Blue sprinkles

Directions
1. Prepare the popcorn according to package directions. Spread onto a cookie sheet and allow to cool.
2. Meanwhile, melt the candy melts and drizzle onto the popcorn.
3. Sprinkle Strawberry Pop Rocks onto the popcorn. (add blue too if you like!)
4. Add sprinkles and allow to harden completely.
5. Serve at your patriotic festivities! The Pop Rocks add an interesting texture to the popcorn, and the sweetness of the candy melts is a nice contrast to the buttery flavor of the popcorn. Super fun!

patriotic rice krispy treats
Who doesn't love Rice Krispies?! These ooey gooey treats are one of our faves!

Ingredients
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal

1 package marshmallows

3 TB margarine or butter

Food coloring (red and blue – I like Betty Crocker Gel Food Colors because the colors are brighter)

Directions
1. Gather your supplies and divide the rice krispies and marshmallows in three for the three layers (2 cups rice krispies and about 2 cups marshmallows).
2. I like to microwave my marshmallows because it’s easier. I stick them in a microwave safe bowl along with the margarine (1 TB) for a few minutes or until they start to get big and almost touch the top of the microwave. Take them out, stir well and add the food coloring (I added almost 1/4 – 1/3 tube of the gel food coloring which is a lot I know but made the colors pretty and bright). Then add the 2 cups of Rice Krispies and stir well. Press into well greased 9x9 (a 9x13 works but makes thinner treats). I wanted mine more thick so I used a 9x9 (8x8 would work as well).
3. Do this for all 3 layers starting with the blue, then white (which is just regular and requires no food coloring) and then red. Pat down all layers really well using wax paper.
4. Let set for a bit, then cut, serve and enjoy!

strawberry banana blueberry fruit pizza

Pizza lovers rejoice! This patriotic dessert will be the hit of your party!

Ingredients
Crust:cooking spray1 package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
“Sauce”:1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened1/4 cup powdered sugar4 oz (1/2 an 8 oz container) frozen whipped topping, thawed
Glaze:1/4 cup sugar1/4 cup orange juice2 Tbsp. water1 Tbsp. lemon juice1 1/2 tsp. cornstarchPinch of salt

Directions

1. Spray a pizza sheet (I used a disposable one) with cooking spray. Spread cookie dough evenly over sheet.
2. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes until very lightly golden brown. Let cool for an hour or more.
3. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the crust.
4. Make glaze while crust is still cooling. In a saucepan, bring sugar, OJ, water, lemon juice, cornstarch, and salt to a boil, stirring constantly for 2 min or until thickened. Let cool and brush over fruit. Store in the refrigerator. Best if made the same day as served.
"This recipe was kind of a mix from a few sites, but most from Kitchen Scrapbook. She suggested waiting to place the fruit on the pizza until the glaze was made and cooled. This prevents browning of the bananas."

patriotic slushy
Having a party where a lot of kiddos will be running around? This punch will be the highlight of their night!

To make some fun patriotic punch, you’ll need 3 different kid-friendly juices/drinks in red, white, and blue. Really, you can use ANY red, white, and blue drinks that you think will taste okay together. The catch is that all three need different sugar contents per ounce. And, the larger the sugar content difference, the better your drink will layer. That’s because this involves a little kitchen science–density to be exact. In this case, I used a cran-cherry juice (red), a kid-friendly pina colada drink (white), and a blue raspberry drink (blue). You can see that our red & white mixed just a bit (their sugar contents only differed by 3g). But, it actually did look more white in real life than the picture shows!
To get the layered effect, you’ll need to do a few things:
  1. Start by filling the glass about 1/4-1/3 of the way up with the drink with the highest sugar content per serving (red in this case).
  2. Then, fill the cup FULL with ice.
  3. Pour the drink with the next highest sugar content (white in this case) very slowly over the ice. You’ll use the ice as a sort of buffer – pouring directly on to the ice with a very slow pour (small amount). If you just pour a whole bunch in quickly, the colors will combine.
  4. Repeat with the last layer (blue in this case)
  5. Snip the ends off of a Twizzlers candy and place in the drink for a straw. For some added fun, you could take some of the red, white, and blue Twizzlers PULL ‘N’ PEEL candy to add a little edible bow or tie to your straw.

  1. Several vertical and horizontal hardwood components are the central theme for front-faced cabinets. The act of a particleboard or solid plywood kitchen cabinet box is then attached to the face frame. It is strongly advised that you look for Blue Kitchen Cabinets that have a cabinet box made of solid wood or solid plywood.

  2. Fresh, air-popped popcorn with real butter is the way to go. Microwave popcorn is irrevocably ruined by the salty grease the stuff is soaked in, and stove-popped stuff takes kind of an expert touch. Popcorn is a versatile snack that pairs well with a variety of foods and drinks.
